Who / What is KRATUWellness Massage Therapy?

Background:
An early interest in natural healing -- that is, in the many ways we can safely yet effectively support our body's innate ability to take care of itself -- led me to pursue trainings in Ayurveda,  Bodywork / Massage,  Reiki / Energy-Balancing,  and Yoga, among other approaches.   For centuries, healers and thinkers around the world have researched the medicinal use of plants and herbs, documented the therapeutic benefits of touching and moving the physical body, and advocated the incorporation of mental & emotional therapies into treatments for supposedly "physical" disorders (and vice versa).

The effectiveness of mindfully compressing, stretching, and moving the body and the breath (thereby also moving energy) has also been documented, indicating that practices such as acupuncture, massage, and exercise are natural ways to help manage stress and pain.

My Practice / What to Expect:
I focus my offerings on helping people reduce their feelings of stress and increase their sense of relaxation, because I find that stress is a factor in just about every ailment or dis-ease of the body, mind, and emotions.    As stress can come from physical, mental, and emotional sources, I incorporate physical techniques such as massage and stretching;  sense therapies such as aroma and sound (through scented oils, music, etc);  and energy movement using Reiki, the Chakra System, thought & breath.

Sessions can range in time and experience (availability & modalities vary by location).  All appointments include time for intake & assessment, so we can decide the best way to proceed in that moment.

Your comfort and trust are important to me.   I am more than happy to meet or talk with you before we schedule our first session, to see if we would make a good fit for your wellness journey.

Please feel free to contact me about a complimentary 15-minute "intro" session to answer your questions and help you decide if KRATU is right for you;  you are also welcome to go ahead and request to book your first full session (please see my rates on the Contact page).  Thank you!

FAQ: What is Massage?

Massage or Bodywork involves manipulation of the soft tissue of the body, and it has been used around the world for centuries as a way to treat and relieve physical, metaphysical, and mental symptoms.  Modern massage therapists benefit from training in Eastern and Western modalities, incorporating traditional and modern approaches as appropriate for the client's needs and preferences.
